Kim Porter, mother of Diddy’s kids, dead at 47: Report

Originally published on

Former model and actress, Kim Porter, died on Thursday at the age of 47 according to TMZ.

Porter famously dated Sean “Diddy” Combs for 13 years and shared three children with the rapper: Jessie James, 11, D’Lila, 11, and Christian Combs, 20.

Law enforcement sources reported to TMZ that they received a “call to Porter’s Toluca Lake home around noon. According to the emergency dispatch audio, the call came in as a patient in cardiac arrest.” Another source close to Kim reported that she had been “suffering flu-like symptoms, and possibly pneumonia, for several weeks.”

She had even reportedly called her doctor a day prior to her death, saying that she wasn’t feeling any better.

“Sadly, I can confirm the passing of Kim Porter,” she said. “I ask that you give the families privacy at this time.”

Porter met Diddy at the beginning of his career when he started as a talent director at Uptown Records. The two were on-and-off starting in 1994 and took a long break in 1999, which led to a custody battle over their son, Christian. They eventually broke up for good in July of 2007. While the couple never officially got married, they were known to have a profound love for each other despite rocky times.

Porter also had a son, Quincy, (named after Quincy Jones) from her relationship with R&B crooner Al B. Sure. Diddy also considers him a son. Diddy and his ex, along with their children, were photographed just weeks ago on October 30 at the premiere of Quincy’s film, “The Holiday Calendar.”

Combs is also the father of two other children, son Justin, 24, and daughter Chance, 12, whom he shares with his exes Misa Hylton-Brim and Sarah Chapman.

Earlier on Thursday, Diddy shared a cryptic message on social media, writing, “God protect me from ANYTHING that wasn’t sent by you.” It’s unclear if he was referring to Porter’s death.

Scooter Braun says there’s ‘power in standing still’

Scooter Braun didn’t take no for an answer when trying to get ahold of a 13-year-old Justin Bieber.

The mega music manager once started out as a party promoter until he found Bieber on Youtube and stalked him down until he got a “yes.” With almost no money left in the bank and a slight sense of hope, Braun understands that the hustle of his early days prepared him for his future success.

“What I can say I learned from the early days to now is that I didn’t know in the early days that there’s a real power in standing still. I used to think I needed to address everything, handle everything, go after everything and now I realize sometimes the best thing you can do when you don’t have the answer is stand still. Let people set the chess board for you and then handle it,” Braun told AOL at the 2018 Pencils of Promise gala in NYC. “Tomorrow always comes and the way you lose is if you don’t let tomorrow come,” he added.

With an A-list roster including Ariana Grande, Karlie Kloss and of course, Justin Bieber, Scooter Braun still finds time to pursue his philanthropic spirit — and even credits his mom for passing that attribute down to him.

“I got it from my mom. Even when I was throwing parties back in the day, she said ‘I need every other party to be a charity,’ so I gave her every fourth party. I just think we are here to serve and when we try to take, you end up in a very lonely place. It’s kind of cliche to say that but it’s the truth. The greatest joy you’ll ever get in seeing other people’s happiness that you caused. So if you really want to be selfish in life, make other people happy and it will make you happy.”
