Oscars 2019: Pink haute couture shut down the red carpet

Floor-grazing gowns and sequin numbers are the tried and true formulas for awards season dressing, but one color in particular dominated the 2019 Oscars red carpet: Power pink.

Gemma Chan set the tone arriving in a neon shade with her Valentino Haute Couture gown. The “Crazy Rich Asians” star has been the one-to-watch by reason of her fashion-forward approach on the step and repeats.

Kacey Musgraves made her Oscar debut channeling a couture fashion princess in a pink tulle masterpiece by Giambattista Valli. The dramatic gown was equally imaginative as it was sophisticated.

Our personal favorite? Sarah Paulson in Brandon Maxwell’s fresh-off-the-runway finale look from his Fall 2019 RTW collection. The parachute gown featured a billowing skirt and wasp-waist cutout complete with a diamond choker.

Julia Roberts made a surprise appearance to present “Green Book” with the Academy Award for Best Picture. The “Ben is Back” actress also got the pink memo — stunning in a one shoulder fushia gown and side swept part showing off her gorgeous teardrop earrings.

“Green Book” star Linda Cardellini stepped away from her minimal red carpet route and took a risk in an asymmetrical ruffled-sweeping gown by legacy couture house, Elsa Schiaparelli.
